During the first 2 weeks of March, members of the Asubpeeschoseewagong

(Grassy Narrows) Anishinabe community will be touring through southern

Ontario to raise awareness about their ongoing campaign for justice,

dignity and self-determination on Anishinabe territory. Most recently, in

December 2002, a blockade was erected in Grassy Narrows to force an end to

the illegal clear-cutting practices of Abitibi-Consolidated Inc on their

territories. Since that time, the defiance of the Grassy Narrows community

to corporate and state colonialism has become a source of inspiration for

Indigenous self-determination across the continent, and around the world.
